Everything I've read from teachers has indicated that students are NOT using ChatGPT to solve problems, create, and do research. They are using it to copy-paste and turn in assignments with the least thought and effort possible.

Of course it doesn't help when many teachers are basically forced by schools to now "teach" via online worksheets.
