I live in southwestern Colorado. This happens so frequently on the Navajo Nation and other parts of rural New Mexico, that groups like Soul Dog Rescue have made it their mission to rescue the dogs, treat them, foster them to socialize them, and then send them to more populated areas like Denver to get adopted. https://www.souldog.org/
