Ironically, narcissists are often the most driven by their fear of abandonment. So they're actually projecting their own fears onto us and expecting us to respond the way they would. Then they're surprised if we enjoy the relative peace or move on with our lives instead of going into panic mode and doing everything we can to hoover them back in.
