Remember that many of these voters were Christianists who believe in the false "Biblical" value of Dominionism. They believe that the "natural order" goes: God, men, women, children, mammals, fish and reptiles, plants. In U.S. slave states (which originally were all 13 colonies), they expanded that to a "natural order" of races that goes: white men, white women, brown men, brown women, Black men, Black women.

A lot of white women have shown that they are more than happy to ally themselves with white men if it means they will still retain some power as being second in the order.
