Teaching online classes in Fall 2020, meant creating a course that was almost entirely based on reading and writing. Then students complained that wasn't engaging. I also got heat from my Dean when people who didn't read and write well or who had trouble working independently were at risk of not passing. That was even after I'd said to my Associate Dean that it's hard knowing that some of the students who were having trouble in the online format might have been able to pass in a class with more applied work and at least a small part of the grade based on attendance and participation.
